Ambika (Malayalam: അംബിക; born 16 November 1962) is an Indian film actress. She was worked in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu films. Ambika's sister Radha was also an actress. Both of them acted in a number of south Indian films in 80s and they have a movie studio called "ARS Studios".
mbika started her career as a child artist and later on acted in more than 200 South Indian films. Her career as a heroine started with the Malayalam movie Seetha, which only released really late in her career. But with films like Neelathaamara (which was made again in 2009) and Lejjavathi, she became a busy actress in a couple of years not only in Malayalam, but also in Tamil and Kannada.[1]
She has acted with heroes in all languages which includes Jayan, Mammooty, Mohanlal, Prem Nazir, Sukumaran, M. G. Soman in Malayalam; Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan, Sivaji Ganesan, Prabhu, Vijayakanth, Mohan, Karthik Muthuraman, Sivakumar, Bhagyaraj, Sathyaraj in Tamil; NTR, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Muralimohan, Mohan Babu, Krishna, Krishnamraju in Telugu; Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan, Ambarish, Srinath, Anant Nag, Shankar Nag, Ravichandran, Prabhakar in Kannada. Her pairing with Ambarish was famous in Kannada.
K. Bhagyaraj introduced Ambika in his movie Andha 7 Natkal. She acted with Rajinikanth in many movies and has appeared in glamorous roles in movies such as Padikkadhavan, Maaveeran, Kaakki Sattai, Vikram and Kadhal Parisu. After returning to India later and started acting again in films like Periyamanushan with Sathyaraj in a glamorous role, Maa Naanaki Pelli in Telugu and with Krishnam raju and Simmadamari in Kannada. She acted as heroine in Vikaraman’s project Mariyathai, in which Vijayakanth acted in father and son roles along with Meena and Meera Jasmin. Sonia married Selvaraghavan (a Tamil film director) in December 2006. After their two year marriage Sonia Agarwal and Selvaraghavan filed for divorce with mutual consent in a Chennai family court on 9 August 2009.[1][2] The family court granted divorce to Selvaraghavan and Sonia Agarwal on March 12, 2010.[3]

During her school days, Sonia Agarwal got an offer to act in a serial in Zee TV. She then made her film debut with the 2002 Telugu film Nee Premakai, in which she did a small role, after which she acted in a Kannada film Chandu opposite Sudeep.
Subsequently, she stepped into the Tamil film industry, appearing in the drama film Kaadhal Kondein, directed by Selvaraghavan, whom she would marry later. Acting opposite Selvaraghavan's brother Dhanush, the film became a huge success and she was widely appreciated for her performance as Divya in the film, which brought her to limelight and fetched her several awards, including the ITFA Best New Actress Award. Afterwards, she acted alongside popular actors Silambarasan and Vijay in the films Kovil and Madhurey, respectively. In 2004, the controversial Tamil drama film 7G Rainbow Colony, directed by Selvaraghavan again, got released, which went on to become successful at the box office. After appearing in the films Oru Kalluriyin Kathai and Oru Naal Oru Kanavu in 2005, both which failed to perform well at the box office, she got roles in the films Thiruttu Payale and Pudhupettai. The former, directed by Susi Ganesan, became a highly successful film, whilst the latter, another Selvaraghavan film received universal critical acclaim by reviewers.
She stopped acting after her marriage. After getting divorced, she made a re-entry, essaying a supporting role in the multi-starrer Vaanam, following which she has signed up for four projects—three in Tamil and one in Malayalam—in quick succession.[4] Her Karu Pazhaniappan-directed film Sadhurangam, opposite Srikanth once again, has recently been released.
